History of Genesis

A division of the South Korean auto concern Hyundai Motor Company headquartered in Seoul.

The founding date of the automotive brand Genesis Motors, focused on the production of premium models, is November 4, 2015.

Genesis Motors is the first Korean brand in the history of the automotive industry to specialize in the production of premium cars. Its history dates back to 2004, when Hyundai management decided to develop a premium sedan. The project took 3 years to complete and cost over half a billion dollars. In January 2008, the Hyundai Genesis sedan debuted at the Detroit International Motor Show.

For 7 years, Hyundai Genesis has demonstrated good sales volumes in the markets of different countries. In the United States of America, the Hyundai luxury sedan entered the TOP-3 in its class, enjoying stable demand among buyers, while in Russia this car failed to seriously compete with the products of other, mainly German brands.

To date, the portfolio of Genesis Motors is represented by a single model – the G90. However, the release of the G80 is expected in the foreseeable future, and by the beginning of the next decade the number of produced cars will increase to six: new sedan and coupe, as well as two SUVs, will go on sale.
